# 001 Baloney Williams

Moses Malone a.k.a. Maloney a.k.a. Baloney was found wandering the streets of the Lower East Side in NYC approximately two years ago. Fortunately, he was not turned into a shelter and found his way to a loving temporary home and then on to his forever home. In the two years since, he has overcome a crushed paw, a mast cell tumor, extreme food and environmental allergies and, just this past Thanksgiving, an emergency spleen removal. Through all of that, he has earned his Canine Good Citizen and his Therapy Dog International certification, and he is looking forward to spending his golden years (he is about 9 years old now) volunteering, living the sweet life, and continuing to make everyone he encounters smile. Baloney is an easy-going, charming and sensitive guy. He is also a quick study and loves learning new skills and tricks. Baloney lives in downtown Buffalo and, true to his city dog roots, loves exploring the streets and meeting new friends – both human and canine. He doesn’t even mind the winter in Buffalo, as long as he is properly equipped, of course!

# 002 Dakota Beatrice Hummel

Dakota is a rescue; we received her when she was 6 months old. I never had been a dog owner and was very nervous about my first being a pit. All those stereotypes were running through my head. Dakota is the greatest dog in the world. She would lick someone to death before ever thinking to try anything else. She has a huge blanket fetish and love for "greenies". I can't imagine my life without her.

#003 Juno Ball

I never believed in love at first sight until one hot summer afternoon at the Elmwood Art Festival when I laid my eyes on Juno. She was trying to stay cool underneath the Buffalo Animal Shelter volunteer van when I approached her and her foster mom. She told me that Juno has had a rough start in life by surviving a severe case of pneumonia. But she had fully recovered and was looking for a forever home. The next day I went to the Buffalo Animal Shelter and filled out all the required paperwork work I need to adopt Juno but was told my chances didn’t look good because they already received 4 or 5 other
applications for her prior to mine. Discouraged but not giving up, I waited for that phone call every day. Then to my surprise, I got the call for the home visit and the rest is history. Juno is the best thing that has happened to me. She is friendly and is just a character. She has also shown our friends and family how amazing the pit bull breed really is. She is not just another pit bull; she is truly my best friend and companion. I couldn’t imagine my life without her.

#004 Gabrielle Switzer-Kruss

We adopted Gabby two years ago. She was one of a litter of 8 Lab/Pit pups rescued by the Buffalo Humane Society. Gabby and her siblings came to the Humane Society at 2 months old mal-nourished and losing fur. Gabby had a scar on her back because she was “caught under a door” – that scar remains today. When our home was approved for pet ownership we were in for a treat! The remaining 4 puppies that hadn’t yet been adopted came to play at our house. I immediately had my eyes set on Gabby – an adorable, hazel-eyed, RAMBUNCIOUS puppy. When she melted into my arms it was set – she had picked us! Not the other way around. A few weeks later we officially adopted our little spazoid at an SPCA bully breed adoption event. I remember my fiancé slept on the floor next to her crate that first night because she would cry anytime we left her alone. The road ahead was long. Gabby was behind in her potty training and had NO command training. Now, almost two years later we can’t imagine our lives without her. She completes our little family in a way that only she can!
#005 Autumn Gerrity

Autumn was adopted from the SPCA in March 2011. She has been a blessing ever since. She brings such joy to our home. With her sloppy kisses to her running up to us when we get home; it’s the greatest! Autumn loves kids, and her family. She loves spending quality time with her pappa. Autumn loves camping and swimming and just hanging out. She has a favorite ball she likes to play with as well. She loves going for car rides with Cato and Morgan who are also pit bulls. They are her cousins and best friends.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

We adopted Max from the Buffalo Animal Shelter in May 2011, but we should say Max adopted us. He is our first pit bull, and has added to our lives in so many ways. He is adored and spoiled by our whole family. It was clear that Max was neglected in his life previous to the shelter. He is now a happy and gentle dog that is wonderful with his 3 cat siblings, as well as our nieces and other neighborhood dogs. He loves the snow- and enjoys going for our daily long walks as well as going to doggie camp and weekend playgroups. Whenever we mention a ‘walk’ or ‘camp’ he perks his left ear straight up and tilts his head just so as if he knows exactly what we’re saying, and this is why we call this ear his periscope. Max has had some health issues, mostly resulting around his severe allergies. He is such a trooper and behaves during his many vet visits and at home care. He is a wonderful ambassador of the pit bull breed, and we couldn’t imagine life without him.

#007 Boaz Funch

After losing my beloved bulldog Eden, I knew I would have other dogs; that I would love them, but I was sure there was no way I would ever fall in love with another dog again. I couldn't have been so wrong. I adopted Boaz after his 3 month stay at CBAS, where he was a shelter favorite. To this day people I've never met still ask "Is that Nestor?" (His shelter name.) Boaz has exceeded my expectations in every way, not only does he make me and every that knows him laugh daily, he's a wonderful companion, an excellent host to foster dogs and has his CGC/TDI. I like to think Eden wanted me to fall in love again.

We recently completed our family with our lil' girl we named Alice. Her big brothers Emmett and Jasper were in Educate-A-Bull's 2011 calendar and were rescued from The Buffalo Animal Shelter and adopted through Educate-A-Bull. Alice has been through a lot for such a young puppy. She was saved from a cruel owner who used her to "toughen up" his other dog. Educate-A-Bull healed Alice and helped her on her way to being the most amazing dog she is today. She is healthy and loves to jump and play with her "brothers". She loves to cuddle and never runs out of kisses. We love going for walks in the park especially off roading out on the trails near the creek. We love our little pitbull family and look forward to coming home every day to three smiling pitties, tails waggin'!___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ #009 Xavier Watkins

Xavier has been a blessing to our lives since he was 10 weeks old. This was our first pet and we couldn't ask for a better dog. He is so calm, loving and affectionate. He is a full blue pit with a large head. LOL He will be 2 years old in March. His coat is blue with white on his chest and front paws. He has a heart shape birthmark on his chest, I think he has that cuz he is filled with so much love. Xavier is a large dog weighing a little over 90 pounds, people often feel threatened or intimidated when seeing him. He is a gentle giant who is scared of a vacuum and his own reflection in the mirror. Once people give him a chance it is absolutely impossible to not instantly fall in love with him. We have actually had people at the dog park offer us money on the spot for him. We wouldn't give him up for a million dollars. Xavier loves laying around and relaxing on a soft fleece blanket. He likes watching football, you can find him in a Bills, Chargers or Patriots jersey every Sunday.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________#010 Kamala Zawistowski-Turner

Kamala is a pure bred pitbull terrier. She was the runt in her litter and the last pup left. I received a phone call that she was too much for her original owner to handle when she was eight weeks old. I fell in love with her as soon as I laid eyes on her. She is a ball of energy. Always on fast forward. She absolutely loves galloping through creeks and enjoys walks. She's a fan of lying anywhere there is sunshine and snuggles up in bed every night. She is definitely a furniture hog and knows how to pretend to be sleeping so I won't make her move. She loves playing with other dogs that have a lot of energy and loves her downtime just as well. I am just as blessed to have her as she is blessed to have me._________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ #011 Roxy Doak

Meet my Roxy! She is a 3 year old rescued Staffordshire terrier. Roxy is now in a happy home and I can’t imagine my life without her. Her biggest flaw if you would even call it that is she almost too affectionate, she’s always licking and cuddling, she wants to be touching me at all times, she is a 50lb lap dog! She sleeps in my bed every night and burrows under the covers to keep warm. She is my little shadow she is never out of my sight. Oh don’t let me fool you it’s not all sunshine and rainbows, she has more energy than I could ever imagine and don't let me forget her little gas problem! Yikes! Roxy loves being outside walking or playing with other dogs, especially her 2 good friends Zeus a giant chocolate Lab and Abby a border collie mix. She loves being outside and swimming. One by one Roxy changes peoples' opinions of Pit Bulls, she warms your heart!

#012 Raven Lewis Murszewski

Raven has been one lucky boy since the very beginning. Unlike some of his doggy friends Raven has been lucky enough to be loved by our family since he was just a pup. The minute Raven became a part of our family he instantly began to teach us what it meant to be responsible pit bull owners and that he would want nothing more than to be an ambassador for the pit bull breed. Raven works very hard to be well behaved and most people that know him will tell you that he's an absolute goof ball who enjoys being a bit mischievous at times. Raven has lead us into developing a passion for this breed and that with Raven's help it's our job to spread awareness and help other bully's in need. A vote for Raven means a vote for a dog and a family dedicated to bully breed awareness and responsible pit bull ownership._________________________________________________________________________________________________________ #013 Abasi Moynihan-Sywak

Abasi, also known as Bud Bud, came into my life when I was in my backyard and he came crawling underneath the fence to come say hello. I took him in and put up lost dog flyers but nobody claimed him so I decided to adopt him. My vet told me that Bud Bud had been on steroids, and that the scars on his head and body made him believe he was being trained as a fighting dog. I decided to enroll Abasi in obedience classes, and doggy daycares to rehabilitate him. Abasi is the most lovable, relaxed, laid back dog ever. He loves to play rope, and to toss the ball, but he loves nothing more than just snuggling with people and knowing he is loved.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________#014 Lucas Vickerd

Lucas is the poster pit bull. He is friendly, loving, affectionate and very social. He loves all people and dogs. He loves going to the park, playing tug-a-war and most of all he loves camping and hiking. He recently acquired a little brother who will also be submitted in this calendar contest and he loves him. He is an all around amazing animal and a great addition to my family.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
#015 Samurai Dempsey-Jones

Samurai has become a wonderful addition to our family. We adopted him from the Buffalo Animal Shelter. He has the best personality. Every day he makes us laugh. He is a fan favorite in the neighborhood. He loves pulling the kids on the sled. On a cold day, he can be found in front of the heater or burrowed under the covers of the bed. Samurai loves everyone he meets and especially loves giving the ladies kisses! We cannot imagine our lives without him._________________________________________________________________________________________________________#016 Bren Heilemann
Bren was rescued from an owner that didn't want the medical bills stemming from her surgery. She was pregnant at the time. All but one puppy died at birth. The one that survived only made it two weeks. Bren only weighted 42 pounds, way under weight. She had damage to her ears from fighting with her brothers. She was just sickly looking. My friend works at the animal hospital and called me, knowing that I was looking for a dog. When I arrived at the vets, they informed me to wait and they would bring her out. When they did, she immediately came over to me and at that point in time I said, I'll take her. She has been a wonderful pet and is a huge part of my family.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________ #017 Kilo Sansone
We rescued Kilo from Smiling Pit Bull. His mother was transported to Buffalo while she was pregnant with 9 puppies. All nine puppies have been adopted along with his mama. Kilo loves to play with his siblings - both furry and two legged ... and footballs and tennis balls are his FAVORITE). He also loves to snuggle and cuddle up with his blankie. He is one of the best things that have came into our lives. Mama Willow took her last breathe on February 21, 2011. Her legend will live on in her puppies and in all of the people's lives she has touched._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ #018 Wyatt Vickerd
Wyatt is a great playful little puppy, he was rescued from a horrible BYB situation in November. All the dogs were taken by local authorities and I believe every dog was placed in a good home. This lucky little guy ended up with me. Wyatt loves playing with his older brother Lucas, walks, fetch and just being around people. He is a lovable little guy and is really growing into an outstanding dog. He was a great addition to my family._____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ #019 Mirka Kancar
Mirka (pronounced Meerka which means peace and glory in polish), a pit bull, came into our life by accident, as most of our pets have. I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician and she came into the hospital at which I work as a stray, and I instantly fell head over heels in love with her because of her heart of gold. While we didn't need another dog they find us. She is truly an ambassador for the breed spreading her love to everyone she meets. Just recently my wife and I had our first son, Henrik, and almost immediately after he was born we had to euthanize our other dog, Traveler, a rescued malamute due to spinal issues for which there was no treatment. My wife, Sarah, also had post op c-section complications. All this coupled with being exhausted while caring for our newborn son brought us to a breaking point. The one rock in all of this was Mirka. She was patient, kind, loving and yes, at time overly curious as to what this new addition was that we brought home. We needed her to be patient while we got our head's above water and when we did she was there for us. Lovingly accepting Henrik into the family and truly proving that pit bulls are amazing family dogs and amazing with babies and children. She continues to spread her love with her silly and always loving personality. I am happy to say that she found her forever home here at Czar of the Woods Farm. Mirka is also a blood donor at my hospital, donating blood to save the lives of dogs that need it most. Again, acting as an ambassador for the breed. _________________________________________________________________________________________________ #020 Louie Kasprzyk-Stincelli
Hi it's me Louie! My parents and I just moved here from Charlotte, NC. So far the whole move has been really good. I have a big back yard and this snow thing is pretty cool too (no pun intended). My parents are getting married in August and me being Mr August 2013 would be the perfect gift to them. Thanks a lot! Love, Lou __________________________________________________________________________________________________ #021 Diesel Miller
As we searched the website we noticed many of the dogs at the Shelter were Pit Bulls. My husband, being worried about the breeds’ reputation, began his research. Meanwhile, our son made a list of all the dogs he wanted to meet.We went to the shelter armed with our knowledge, our lists and an open heart. Almost immediately a pup caught our son’s eye. He knelt down and said “hi buddy, we will be back to see you”. After meeting all the dogs on my son’s list, we went back to meet the lone stand out. The second we took him out, it was apparent my son and the dog had an instant connection. By the end of the outside visit my husband was sold…they both fell in love! My husband had such a connection and couldn’t stand the thought of his new friend spending another night away from his forever family. He even had breakfast and playtime with him the next day while awaiting application approval. Before long, “Davis” became “Diesel”. The stereotype of the breed was crushed and the love for the breed took its place. Diesel is a typical pit bull, very goofy and he loves to snuggle and give kisses. We are so blessed to have him in our lives._____________________________________________________________________________________ #022 Anna Browarek
My name is Anna and I am told to be a blending of Pittie, Black Lab & I might have some Basset Hound in me. But I think of myself as a mud & dirt princess. I love playing in my neighbor’s swamp, if ya can't tell. But I had a very scary start in life; I was one of the many dogs raided from Laurel Street in 2009. But thanks to Beth Klein & Educate-A-Bull, me, my bro's and sis's had a new start in life! Then shortly before Christmas of 2009 my foster momma's sister took me in and fostered me for a few days. When it was time for me to head back to my foster momma's house, my new friend Tommy didn't wanna see me go. That day he called my foster mommy and asked if I could stay, giving me a FOREVER HOME! I was soooo happy. I was going for car rides, long walks, laying by my pool, playing with my neighborhood buddies and napping with my new friend, Speedy the cat! My life is amazing and I owe it all to Beth Klein, Educate-A-Bull & the Browarek family! I can't possibly thank you enough._____________________________________________________________________________ #023 Ting Fitzgerald
Katie and Ting began their journey together while Katie studied to become a vet. She rescued the red nosed Pit from the streets in the neighborhood where she lived. The dog was under-nourished and flea-ridden. Although she was a wild dog, she took to living in a house very well. She was an excellent guard dog, taking to her new job of protecting her new friend very seriously. She chased away many an attempted burglar, one all the way down the street. Katie brought her new friend home with her after school was over, no doubt saving Ting's life They live by a creek and enjoy their time together walking the woods. They also work long hours together as a team, tending to sick animals all over the countryside. ________________________________________________________________________________________ #024 Jack Black and Nina Truckenbrod
We adopted Jack Black from Educate-A-Bull and have been thrilled ever since. He has completed our family and we really love him. He is quite the eye catching dog as we go places, I think he'd make an incredible ambassador for the breed. I'm excited to try for a K-9 good citizen's certificate for Jack. People stop us on he street and ask if they can meet him! And he accepts his adoring public graciously.______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ #025 Beans Blendowski
We rescued Beans when he was only 6 weeks old. He and his litter mates were born by an unscrupulous owner who decided they did not want pups so they decided to not feed Mamma and her puppies. Luckily Mom and the puppies were all rescued and adopted! When we went to pick Beans up from his foster Mom he was in the back room, when she called him he came running around the corner and the minute he saw my husband and I he got startled and proceeded to stick his head in a work boot that was next to him! I guess he figured if he couldn't see us we couldn't see him even though only his head was covered! It was love at first site! Beans was a very fun, rambunctious, mischievous little boy! But he grew into being the most gentle, kind, loving dog we have ever owned. We always tell our friends and family that Bean's is the best dog ever and we wish all dogs could be as well mannered as he is! He never gets in trouble or does anything wrong, even when his doggie sisters, test his patience! He will lays quietly and let Ava crawl on top of him without moving a muscle except to occasionally lean up and kiss her. We love our Bean's with all our hearts and would love to have him honored in this special way!_______________________________________________________________________________________ #026 Titus, King and Bertha Gigliotti
The American Pit Bull Terrier in this picture we rescued four years ago, we named him Titus. Titus came from the Erie County SPCA. Animal Control Officers had to inspect our home before adopting him because he was confiscated in one of their raids. They told us he was found in a house where there was a dog fighting ring. He was 8 months old, tied up in the kitchen, to a stove with a tow chain around his neck. He is the "man" of the house. The handsome, chocolate, American Staffordshire was our second adoption from Educate-a-Bull. His name is King. We have had King for almost 3 years. Titus and King became best friends instantly. King is our diva dog who loves attention. His motto is "I'm sexy and I know it"!!We had room for another dog but thought we would never be able to get another without changing the great dynamic that we already had with Titus and King. But, we seen a picture of her and we just couldn't resist at least trying. Her name is Bertha. She is our baby girl, American Staffordshire, from Educate-a-Bull. She is the smallest and toughest. She can run circles around her big brothers and doesn't hesitate to let them know. She is the one who is really in charge, but we don't tell Titus that. She is a sweet girl who demands even more attention then King, and she will make you give it to her too!We didn't think it was possible to love 2 dogs, let alone 3, as much as we love our "3 little pits"._____________________________________________________________________________ #027 Hope and Esteban Halligan
My dog Sam had to be put to rest after 14 years. In that moment of grief, I said no more dogs that lasted 1 month. I started searching Petfinder nightly but always kept coming back to a little pit bull named Hope. Called foster mom Tanya from Buffalo Animal Shelter and decided she was the dog for me. After bringing her home she became very needy and clingy so i felt she needed a friend. I called Tanya again and asked if she knew of a companion for Hope, and she did! A black pittie boy named Esteban that her friend was fostering. They had played together, taken walks and even had sleepovers. So, we arranged a meet and greet. They raced to each other as if they had never been apart. They romped and played and I knew Esteban was coming home with us. How could I separate them again? They've been together ever since. Like all couples they have their ups and downs. Hope is the boss and Esteban follows. The whole family has come to love them, so much that my eldest daughter adopted 2 pit bulls of her own from the same shelter. _____________________________________________________________________________
