SPRING HAS ARRIVED!!!!!

It was a long cold winter here in Buffalo!  Spring has finally arrived and our pooches are certainly pleased!  The prospect of green grass, long walks and romps in the yar is more than enough to get their tails wagging!  EAB is also pleased that spring has arrived!  We have proudly placed many dogs in need, assisted our wonderful area bully owners and continued our efforts to educate the public about the true nature of the breed.  With the warmer weather brings issues with overpopulation and an increased need for foster care and placement of our bullies.  We are looking forward to our spring programs and need your help!  We are searching for motivated volunteers and foster homes to assist us in our rescue, prevention and educational programs.  Please consider joining our organization.  For more information visit our website at:  www.educateabull.org

We are grateful to all of our adopters, volunteers and  friends for your continued support.  Thank you for investing your time, efforts, and hearts to the plight of the bully breed.  Without you, we would not be where we are today.

HAPPY SPRING!

Carissa Uschold, EAB &

our amazing bullies!

EARTH DAY

April 22, 2009 is Earth Day.  This year Earth Day will mark the two year Green Generation initiative as well as the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day.   For more information go to: www.earthday.net/earthday2009

Every day you hear about businesses and individuals "going green".   If you have not gone green already, it is time to start!  As pet owners this impacts us greatly.  It is important to be able to have clean parks, clear walkways, clean air as well as the beauty of nature to enjoy with our pets.  Here are some tips that will assist you in being a GREEN pet owner:

*  Spay or neuter your pet decreasing the negative impact of overpopulation

*  Clean up after your dog

*  Consider composting animal waste

*  Find alternatives to using plastic bags or use bags that are biodegradeable

*  Recycle dog toys, collars, & leashes

*  Recycle old blankets, towels, & crates

*  Buy pet foods that are all natural or organic

*  Buy products that are also natural or organic

*  Use pet-safe de-icer to melt the last of the ice

 King is an amazing one year old, purebred, American Pit Bull Terrier.  He is clever, cunning and a true ambassador of the breed.  His owner was not able to give him the time and attention that he deserves by no fault of this beautiful boy!  King is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped & house and crate trained.  Please consider giving King the furever home that he deserves.  You will not regret it!  For more information contact: www.educateabull.org

NOVEMBER 2008 NEWSLETTER

Gords    Pit in leaves      Cor2

November 4th marked a historic day in the history of the United States of America.  Barack Obama was elected the first African American president.  With that comes the promise of much needed change.  The positive change that we are hopeful will occur spans many levels.  It has even begun to reach into our world of animal rescue.  With the current administration in place, we can hope to see changes and assistance in ending the problem of homeless animals, over population, dog fighting, backyard breeding, and Breed Specific Legislation. President-elect Obama recently said “I think how we treat our animals reflects how we treat each other.  It’s very important that we have a president who is mindful of the cruelty that is perpetuated on animals.” With the Obama Family’s move into the White House comes not only a new home, but also a new puppy.  In his acceptance speech President Elect Obama highlighted the fact that he plans to add a new puppy to his family.  In an interview this week Barack Obama stated that it has always been his mission to adopt or rescue a shelter dog.  He said he specifically would like the breed of dog to be a mutt.  Senator Obama described himself as a mutt, and stated that he has always felt a deep desire to provide a home to an animal in need.  This speaks volumes to the fact that we are currently breaking down the race barriers that have plagued our country for a centuries and opening our minds to the fact that our country is a melting pot; a cornucopia of amazing difference.  We can only hope that this trickles into the world of animal rescue.  The day will come when the government no longer enacts or enforces Breed Specific Legislation Laws and moves toward eradicating breed profiling and discrimination.  We hope that someday, breed discrimination will not exist, much in the way that we have moved toward no longer tolerating racial discrimination.

October was Pit Bull Education Month.  Thirty-three states nationwide participated in providing education and information on the breed as well as the positive and rewarding aspects of ownership.  We hope to mark this day in our calendars for many years to come.  Educate-a-Bull is committed to providing educational programs and initiatives in our community.  Please visit our Community Outreach and Educational Program pages for more information.

This month also marked an amazing post on You Tube and Yahoo.com.  We all know that our bullys are full of love and tender moments.  The general public has yet to experience the pleasure of such amazing times.  The video at: http://video.yahoo.com/watch/3805344?fr=yvmtfvideo.yahoo.com/watch/3805344?fr=yvmtf depicts the true nature of the Pit Bull.

Esco2 Esco3 Esco1

This month our fantastic Esco was adopted into his forever home.  He was the first dog in our Second Chance Services Program.  This was a great success and special moment for EAB and Esco’s new family.  Esco is three years old and an amazing boy.  He was unable to remain in his home due to unforeseen circumstances unrelated to him.  After searching for several months, his forever family came along!  They bonded and fell in love with Esco instantly.  They did not have time to train a puppy and were so pleased Esco was already house and crate trained.  Esco and his new brother, a four year old boy, became fast pals and enjoying romping around together.  Esco is loving his new life and is forever grateful.  We wish Esco and his family and lifetime of fun, love and lots of puppy kisses.

October 2008

Ready for the Chill??? I am!!! This is a great time of the year. educate a bull could not have had a better fresh start!

People are being educated, hence they are giving our all mighty breed a second look.  We have had plenty of wonderful adoptions! In these promising times, we couldn’t be happier. Ella, Daisy, Foster, Stella, Bernard, Keely, Fergie, Sally, Dolly and Camilla have found their forever loving homes.

Bully Pride:
I had a conversion with a friend recently who was asked this question by a coworker, "What kind of dogs do you own?" She (in her mind) thought, "OK, here we go... and replied back, "I own two pit bull terriers!" What usually follows is the look of complete HORROR on the questioner’s face.... RIGHT??? Sound familiar?

We will probably never stop defending our beloved critters due to all of the negative media and stigma that goes along with owning an APBT or a bully breed. But please remember the ones that have learned from us... Pit bull dogs are the victims not the villains. Unfortunately they are prayed upon by people who are not worthy of them. They are just an innocent breed that some humans have created the "monster" within and WE as responsible dog owners should always remember to hold our heads up high and say... " I own two GREAT pit bulls, would you like to meet them?"
Please check this video clip out, it is amazing.

As always, thanks for your support and grand efforts in restoring the breed to their former position of esteem in the hearts and minds of people everywhere.

Let’s show the world why pit bull dogs are so deserving of our love...

More help please!!! We would really like to avoid getting burned out so if we could get more organized help…. Especially in the fostering department. Any ideas on promoting or encouraging foster homes? Classifieds? Store promotions??

 We need to get the word out about our organization…Do you know of any upcoming events??? Does anyone not receive our monthly newsletter? Please let Beth know of any contact numbers for events or for the newsletter.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have had a magnificent month with adoptions.....
Camilla and Veronica have gotten wonderful forever homes.They are truly LUCKY dogs!
The newcomers....
Henry~ A handsome 12 week old pit bull terrier. He was surrendered to eab because his new family did not research the breed. We are very happy that he has joined our pit crew- he has already become BFF's with his foster family.
Unfortunately due to lack of foster homes, we are having to turn many deserving dogs /puppies away. We desperately need more help, I hate to admit this but dogs are not getting a second chance lately.  Please reconsider opening your homes and hearts to a much deserving pooch.
